Syria: Chemical Weapons Were Used, UN Says

UN inspectors have said there is "clear evidence" chemical weapons have been used on a "relatively large scale" in Syria.

The team of inspectors, who visited the site of an attack in Damascus last month, published the results of their findings, saying they had been left with the "deepest concerns".

A spokesman for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said he expressed his "profound shock and regret" at the findings, adding: "He condemns in the strongest possible terms the use of chemical weapons and believes this act is a war crime."
